What resolution can you print to?
Our Epson Giclée printers are capable of producing print resolutions up to 1440 x 2880 DPI. This dot per square inch resolution is far greater than regular inkjet printers and means that your pictures are printed to an exceptionally high standard, with no discernible pixelation.
What is Giclée printing?
Pronounced "Zhee-Clay", Giclée printing is a high-quality form of inkjet printing designed to produce exceptional, on-demand, prints.
How big can I print my picture?
You can blow up any photo as large as you want (up to our max print size). But, if you enlarge a photo too much you're going to get a pixelated print.
To help you achieve the best results, our print quality indicator (found in the print & frame studio) determines if the image file you have provided is suitable for printing at the size you have requested.
What about colour profiles?
Most images are saved using a default colour profile Adobe RGB 1998 or sRGB; and this is what we recommend for four reasons:
- Colour accuracy: Our printers have been calibrated to achieve outstanding results with default profiles
- Soft proofing: Most typical consumer monitors have a colour profile similar to the standard sRGB profile, and struggle to mimic the colours found in other spaces like CMYK
- File size & speed: Image sizes can balloon when saved with embedded colour profiles
- Simplicity: We want to make ordering your framed print risk free and simple. By using a default profile, you don't have become a colourspace guru.
What image types can I upload?
We support the upload of .jpg files under 100mb in size. You can validate the resolution of your file at the size you'd like printing online to ensure you'll be pleased with the quality of your print.
Why UltraChrome HDR inks?
A favourite among professionals, our inks deliver twice the density of conventional pigment inks, resulting in a larger gamut of colour and deeper blacks. They're certified to maintain outstanding colour & tonal accuracy for 200+ years and will show almost no change in colour under different lighting conditions.
Can I edit my photos?
You can crop your images using our online tool.
Alternately, before uploading your photos, you can remove any imperfections and enhance the overall look of the image. This can be done using a range of both free and professional grade photo editors such as Adobe Photoshop.
Do I have to order a standard size?
We list some popular sizes to get you started, but we can make your print to any size (within reason). As custom manufacturers we can print everything from cute little postcards to monster size posters (& everything in between).
Can I order a sample pack?
Yes, and it's free. Samples are the best way to see how each paper looks and feels.

Improving print results
We always recommend setting your camera to capture images at the highest possible resolution. The will allow us to create crisp prints at larger sizes. There are however factors, other than resolution, that can affect the quality of your photos.
Enhancing your photo
Before uploading your photos, you can remove any imperfections and enhance the overall look of the image. This can be done using a range of both free and professional grade photo editors such as Adobe Photoshop.
